Fresh from Stir’s success in becoming the community hub of CB4 and Cambridge’s ‘Coffee Shop of the Year 2016’, Stir Bakery opened next door to the coffee shop in April 2017. 

Led by Head Baker, Mahala Le May, our team of skilled bakers individually make every item by hand on site at Stir Bakery, with a wide selection of breads, viennoiserie and other delicious sweet and savoury treats  – all available fresh six days a week. 


What we do

Stir Bakery’s bread range consists of sourdoughs and other slow fermented breads, all made with organic UK milled flour from Shipton Mill. By focusing on simple ingredients - flour, water, salt, with the occasional addition of seeds, grains and fruit – and a long fermentation time. This gives our bread greater depth of flavour and makes it easier to digest. Also keep an eye out for our special loaves made with grains and flours from local millers.




The Stir philosophy

Our philosophy from day one was for Stir to be at the heart of the local community, making CB4 a better place to live. We have focused on providing fresh, high quality, ethically-sourced food and drink in the coffee shop and we’re delighted people have responded so positively. Stir Bakery is a natural extension of this philosophy.

Stir Bakery has incredible signature menu items but also is a place to discover new products and tastes. Our Head Baker regularly creates her own new recipes for customers to try. The quality of the ingredients used and the incredible care and time that goes into each individual item ensures that everything we make has a unique taste and character – come and try us!
